Sustainability is the essence of our ‘bigger picture’ and hence, it is only natural that all our operations are tailored to be amiable to the environment, society, economy and foremost to the safety of our people.

Our management team is continuously devising processes and procedures to contribute towards green projects, social and employee welfare.

As per industry standards, we have classified our sustainability missions into 4 broad sectors:

  • Environmental Sustainability
  • Social Sustainability
  • Economic Sustainability
  • Product Sustainability

A couple of projects currently in use are:
Recycling Waste Ferrous Scrap in to Reinforcing Steel Bar
Efficient Hot Charging and Direct Rolling processes to save energy and reducing greenhouse gas emissions.

Other projects are in pipeline and will soon be announced as we implement them.

ENVIRONMENT POLICY

Shattaf Steel is committed to meet all HSE rules and regulations in the general SERVICES sectors and will strive to protect the environment through sound management practices and decisions.

We provide policies to secure a safe, healthful workplace, protecting the environment, conserving energy and natural resources. With these policies in place we believe we can achieve a healthy, safe and environment-friendly atmosphere in our organization.

We are committed to:

  • Commitment to prevention of injury and ill health and continual improvement in Environmental management and performance.
  • Take action to eliminate or reduce, as far as practicable, any potentially adverse environmental impacts.
  • Commitment to comply with applicable legal requirements and with other requirements to which organization subscribes that relates to Environmental hazards.
  • Providing the framework for setting and reviewing Environmental objectives & targets.
  • Promote environmental awareness amongst our suppliers, contractors and partners by the implementation of operational procedures as well as making the employees aware of each of its aspects.
  • Determine compliance obligations and ensure operations are completed in accordance with them . Ensure that Top Management is fully engaged in the management of environmental issues
  • Continually improve the environmental management system to enhance environmental performance and Reviewed periodically to ensure that it remains relevant and appropriate to the organization.
  • Ensure effective and expedient incident control, investigation and reporting.
  • Allocate suitable and sufficient resources which enable the company to achieve its environmental aims and objectives.
  • Prevent pollution, reduce waste and ensure that, wherever practical, measures are implemented to protect and preserve natural habitats, flora and fauna.

HEALTH AND SAFETY POLICY

Shattaf Steel believes in the best Health and Safety culture and is committed to provide workplaces free from Hazards for everyone.

We are committed to:

  • Hold all levels of management accountable for health and safety of each other at work and the consequences of our actions.
  • Meet the applicable statutory, legal & other requirement, dedicated to performing our work in the safest practical manner throughout our operation, consistent with industrial practice that satisfies customer expectations.
  • Uphold the guiding principle ‘SAFETY FIRST’ and empower all employees to stop the work if they believe it become unsafe and not to start work unless safety precautions being taken to prevent harm to people, asset, environment and company reputation
  • Establish procedures to ensure all our employees are knowledgeable of, and understand and comply with all applicable health & safety laws and regulations, ISO standards requirements & other legal local requirements.
  • Implement a system to control risk through identification of hazard and provision for safe work environment.
  • Impart all necessary trainings and motivate employees to be competent in identifying and controlling hazards to work safely, also share knowledge and information for safe and efficient operations to empower and educate our workforce.
  • All employees have a duty to understand the hazards in their workplace to comply with health & safety rules and put either themselves or others at risk.
  • Set and review objectives, targets and strive to achieve by continuously improving processes in all areas of operation through involvement of all employees. Seek continual improvement in safe work methods at all our activities.
  • Communicate openly with employees, contractors and clients on matters relating to occupational health and safety, in order to prevent injury, ill health and encourage healthy working environment.
  • Continually improve the environmental management system to enhance environmental performance and Reviewed periodically to ensure that it remains relevant and appropriate to the organization.
